]These terms apply to accommodation stays and picnic day visits booked directly with Alberton Guesthouse.
A website reservation may begin as a temporary hold. For direct accommodation bookings, at least R5 must be paid and verified to secure the date. Guests may pay the minimum deposit, choose a higher deposit, or pay the full outstanding amount. Once the required deposit is verified, the booking becomes confirmed and the temporary expiry is removed.
The booking record shows the total price, total amount paid and remaining balance. Further verified payments reduce that balance until the accommodation amount is fully paid.
For night-stay groups of 4 or more guests, a refundable R10 cleaning/damage deposit is required in addition to the booking deposit. It is held separately from accommodation revenue and is refunded by direct bank transfer after checkout once cleaning/inspection is complete and no chargeable damage is found. It may be retained only to the extent justified by chargeable damage or excessive cleaning.
Accommodation is self-catering. Standard check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is by 10:00 unless otherwise agreed. Guest numbers and apartment allocations must be accurate and may not exceed the selected apartments’ capacities.
Day visits operate during the times shown on the booking page and are subject to daily capacity. Day visitors bring their own food, drinks, utensils and swimming towels.
All guests and visitors must comply with the published House Rules. Group organisers are responsible for sharing the rules with their group. Serious unlawful, unsafe or disruptive conduct may result in reasonable action to protect guests, staff, neighbours and property.
Online payments may be processed by PayFast. A browser return is not proof of payment; the system records a payment only after verified server-to-server confirmation from the provider. Alberton Guesthouse does not need to store full card credentials entered on PayFast.
Amounts paid to secure a date are intended to operate as the booking deposit and cancellation charge where the customer cancels because the secured date was removed from availability. Any amount retained remains subject to applicable South African consumer law, including the requirement that a cancellation charge be reasonable and legally required exceptions. Booking.com, Airbnb or another external booking channel may impose additional payment, cancellation and communication terms for bookings originating through that channel.
Personal information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable South African law.
